FluentBoo learning guide
Turn screenshots into vocabulary flashcards
A screenshot is a starting point for vocabulary practice. Extract a small amount of text, check the result, and save only the words you want to learn.
Choose a readable screenshot
Use clear text with enough contrast. Crop away menus, ads, and unrelated paragraphs. Small fonts, stylized lettering, and blurred images can produce OCR mistakes, so check the extracted word against the image.
Keep context before translating
Find the sentence containing your word. A word can change meaning across contexts; “charge” in a phone manual is different from “charge” on an invoice. Save the meaning used in your screenshot, rather than every possible definition.
Create a card you can answer
Put one word or short phrase on the question side. Put the intended meaning and a short example on the answer side. Avoid placing an entire paragraph on a single card: it becomes unclear what you are trying to recall.
Practice with your own example
Cover the answer, recall the meaning, then make a sentence about your day. If the word remains difficult, return to the screenshot and ask what the author was trying to communicate.
Capture responsibly
Use text you are allowed to access. Avoid importing private messages or sensitive documents you do not need for learning. FluentBoo supports vocabulary capture from photos, screenshots, and pasted text; OCR and AI features may require connectivity and have plan limits.
Try a word from your own day
